Doing Great in Ogden Utah

Awesome email!!!! I am a bit prejudice, but I love this kid!!!

ok mom i love it here well i mean just being on my mission finally.... yes elder guthrie is those guthries lil brother hahaha super crazy so let me give you a lil update.... we are whitewashing this area.. that means there are no old investigators and no potentials hahaha there is nothing we are starting from the ground up and i guess missionaries havent been coming around to the branch at all so no one has really been doing and missionary work but me and elder guthrie have a plan we have been visiting the members everynight after 7-8 ish because no one wants to talk to the missionaries after those times hahaha we knock a lot of doors and we get turned down at night so what we do is we are building relationship with the members in the ward hahah we are branch 16 oooor la rama de diez y seis haha but it is awesome i never though i would ever say this mom but seriously i love mexicans hahha well most of the people here are from peru guatamala paraguay argentina places lile that not to many from mexico but they are all really excited for me to get my visa and they are all really happy we are in there brianch .. there is only one spanish branch and the area is huge and we dont have a car so we walk everywhere it was hard for a few days but now i love it walking doesnt bother me ummm we are taken care of everynight the members really care about there missionaries so we are in a members home for dinner everynight it was sweet in peru they only eat with there hands oh my gosh i was pumped hahaha no knife and fork needed for carne asada i loved it hahaha so there is this family well just a wife and husband hermana diez and hemano diez they are awesome i ate with her like my first meal and she cooked enchaladas and it was really good but i couldnt eat it all i got to the point that i was going to throw up if i keep eating i felt so bad and she kept teasing me hahaha but the husband has parkensens disease and it was the sadest thing ever we gave him a blessing and sang him his faverite song GRANDE ERES TU hahah it was good but in the song Hna diez started to cry a lil and in the blessing i started to cry because just love this man and feel so sarry for him but he is enduring it well she says yes he hurts but she has tranquility and peace in his heart which is so conforting to know that our father in heaven loves us and will do that for us theres some other families that i just love to visit cause there kids they are so funny we walked into a house and sat down and the kids all came running in and one was just like i am so happy to meet you i want you to know that i know everything and shook our hands and left hahaha that was the suarez family and then last night we had spagetti it was so good reminded me of home hahaha but the lil girl they had was like really scared of at first and by the time it was time to leave she was cryinmg cause she wanted us to stay and play with here the parents had to pick her up cause she was following us out the door it was really tender hahaha ummm so we got one investigater that is so awesome its funny everybodys excuse is we are cotholic so its ok hahaha and so then we just talk to them and then say hey can we come back and talk some more and we havent really taught o real lesson yet but this family is awesome the father is really nice he invited us n and really was listening to us it was great and we told him a lil about the temple and how families can be together forever and he just says that is so beutiful but the wife is a lil stubborn they are moving this next week but we have an appointment with them saturday so hopefully we can sink in a message hahah we talk to everyone it is so awesome mom i love it i love working it is the greatest thing ever i am really happy and this time i have in bountiful i am preparing for mexico i love it though i really do ahhh ok so the house in mesa thats sad but i think thats a good thing now we dont have to worry about it and can just move forward but i know that heavenly father loves us and is watching of all of us everyday and you were called to teach seminary for a reallon hahha so dont worry 1nephi 3;7 is a really good way to look at it so dont worry about it cause its all taken care of just keep the kids acctive and moving so they dont fall asleep ..... so did maggy come back or what you sent me a picture and i really wasnt sure ahahah so anyways whenever someone tells you to aim low? are you kidding me you tell them to be quiet we are workers of the lord and our job is to bring all people unto christ even if they are already baptised it doesnt matter cause everyone need thats love a few scriptures i really like d&c 123:12-14 and my favorite part is verse 13 when it says we must waste and wear out our lives in the service of the lord i kinda parafrazed but thats ok andanother is alma 31 :34-35 this one is great to the ward needs to be pumped about missionary work hahaha thats what we are doing right now .... so i wrote a letter last week explaining everything but i couldnt find my stamps hahaha sorry so the adress to send packages to 2133 washington blvd ogden utah 84401 and send it through us postal services and the office forwards it to me for free hahaha i guess thats all you need to worry about right now since i can email you for right now well mom i gotta go i have like 10 emails but you got my longest one hahaha for sure i love you guys so much i miss you but i am working hard and i am loving every bit of it our heavenly father is close to us always remeber that hahaha acts:17 :27 i think hahaha ok love you mom !!!!! and family!!!!!!!!!

Colten reported to Ogden until Visa Comes

Not sure if I let all of you know that Elder Houston was sent out in the field to Ogden Utah, because the visas for his district didnt come in as hoped. He will be in this area until the visas arrive, which could be up to 9 weeks. Once they receive them he should fly out of there pretty quick since he is so close to the MTC. Anyway, good luck reading this email, his typing has not improved ha ha!


hey mom second day in the field!!!!! pretty lame to be honest right now cause i havent been able to work buts its ok so listen to thi my comp is elder guthrie!!! yes the guthrie that lives in our mesa arizona steak totally nut oh my gosh story for you so i get my comp and we go to the aprtment omg rediculous i about flipped hahaha i walk in and the place is messy trash everywhere and the bathroom is nasty my room is trashed from english missionaries so the first thing i did was start cleaning hahaha i decided that would be better then eating dinner hahaha so my spanish is terrible out here i dont understand to much what these locos are saying but im learning and they are helping me the best they can hahaha i takl to them in spanish and they talk to me in english hahahah last night i went prosolyting kinda just to meet the members and get a relationship since we are both new to the area oh by the way is in bountiful hahaha but we had no luck hahaha no car for us so we just walk to the closest members hahaha we tract for about 2 1/2 hours it was fun i guess people know who we are here and always gives us rides my aprartment smells like smakers lived in there so my suit smells nasty hahaha drake is going to mexico!!!!1 in torreon hahaha thats where my teacher hermano welling served hahahah drake is going to die its going to be great hahaha thay sweep there dirt there i live with 2 other elders elder casillo and elder hairy hahaha idk if thats how you spell it ellder casillo is from chiuahua and i talk to him about mexico and he said tuxtla is the prettiest place ever hahah he has a heavy mexican accent so its fun to talk to him hahha lets see i dont know what eldse i can say oh i just went to the boutiful temple omg sooooooo pretty there i love to go to the temple its great well i hope i am not here any lonnger then a month but i am super pumped to be here i am really excited to get to work hahaha hopefully i can find enough spanish non members and give them a espiritaso ahhaha that means a spirit in the face hahaha and baptise them the elders that live with us just set 2 baptism dates last night so thats exciting hmmmmm crap i forgot to bring my adress so i guess you can just email me it seems like we get a ton of time to do this hhahaha well i love you all thats all my news so far hahaha dad is coming outa me when our house is dirty hahaha but other then that i am really happy !!!!!!

Latest on Colten's Visa

hey mom ok so the visas lazy people took a 2 week vacation and they are moving the consolate building so no worries about that then also there is a mean man that works there that only signs like 3 visas a day he is mean but what ever i will pray that he will stop that stuff hahaa i hope you got my letter i gave a lot of information if there is anything else you would like to know dear elder me today i cant answer back cause i am only aloud to write letters on wednesday and i have to be completely obediant or blessings wont come to me or you guys hahaha as for the bag it was exactly like the one in the picture so thank you so much i am going to buy a carry on bag whe it is time to leave to relieve a lot of weight cause i have been told we can take our back packs and a carry on bag which is awesome so you can send the blanket when it is done they put names in for re assignment and we can be reassigned to either texas, colorado , or california so idk what is really going to happen i hope we can leave soon cause my teacher showed us pictures of his mission and it made me want to leave so bad i am always day dreaming about it ahhaha i love it i love being a missionary it is so fun hahaha we just speak spanish all day and we only have teachers like 1 hour a day for each teacher so the rest of the time is study time or practice teaching its great i hope you guys are doing good tell dad thanks for his letter and tell justin thanks to i will write him a letter cause im about to be done with my time i am really glad that everything is good tell mike and josh to just be happy and thats all i am really greatful for justin and im glad to see him coming around and taking care of things it makes me so happy and now he just has to learn how to get a long with josh send me a picture of a truck they are doing construction here and there trucks are hidious i would like the best one and i want to see this new horse!!!!!!! so i need some pictures i got a haircut i look like a goober haha love you

SUPRISE!!!

So mom got a phone call and this man said, "Como Es Ta?" That's right!!! It was Colten!!! He only had 5 minutes, but he called to tell Mom that they didn't get their visas, and they have 3 more weeks in the MTC! If they don't get their visas by then they will send him out to another mission! Bummer! We were so excited to hear from him!!! Mom got to talk to him, then me and I got to tell him about Me and Josh being able to go through the temple as early as september!!! He was so excited!!! He said he's been praying for us! He kept saying how excited he was! It was awesome,I am so glad i got to tell him and hear his reaction!!! It was great! Anyway that made everyones day too bad no one else got to say Hi to him! We're just that special!!! He sounded so grown up it was crazy! I hope he still goes to his mission in Mexico!

hey mom i got 4 min hahaha ummm i bought you a recorder and i sent it im doing good idk if ill have a letter with it but once you send me that bag ill be sending my backpack home and some other things so its ok but remember i only have 2 weeks left in the MTC wooooohooooo haha its crazy how time is flying the days are long but the weeks are fast haha ok i need some pictures maybe of me and jake to and i need a picture of one of our trucks hahaha hmmmm whatelse oh yeah we taught this nigeraguan on saturday he was a volunteer hahaha and we did so good the second lesson is rough but we are getting there. hahaha we haven't practiced it much there are so many people here i know its really weird and we are almost the oldest district its great hmmm but please try and send that bag as soon as you can so i know how much stuff to send back i don't want to weigh to much i understand your busy hahaha its great right well i love the gospel annnd i love you guys all!!!!!!

Colten gave amber and josh an assignment to have family prayer every night. Its amazing how much missionaries grow up in the mtc and even in the mission field.
